We both worked for a well-established local building firm where we learnt our trade in a traditional manner. Having similar ambitions we decided to set up a partnership and in 1983 Wood 'n' Head was born. Our first job was a loft conversion for a local businessman who is still one of our main customers today, and since then we have never looked back.

Some of our work as main contractor, has been upgrading a United Reform Church, converting barns into dwellings, house extensions etc. In latter years we have concentrated more on the timber only side , which is where our strength lies. This often involves the making and fixing of conservatories, stairs, doors, windows etc, all made in our own workshop. Usually in shapes and sizes you cannot buy from a builders merchants.

The strangest job has to be an oak coffin lined with stainless steel for a local colonel, who wanted to be buried along with some of his belongings.
We also carry out a variety of carpentry works including repairs and alterations to private and commercial properties.
